Report: AEW/ROH Signs Jonathan Gresham

The champion is reportedly on board

ROH World champion Jonathan Gresham has officially signed with AEW, according to a report from Fightful Select. As one might expect, Gresham will be part of the revamped ROH promotion now under the ownership of Tony Khan.

The news comes on the day that Gresham was scheduled to defend his championship against former ROH titleholder Dalton Castle at tapings for AEW's Battle of the Belts.

As it currently stands, Gresham is scheduled to be part of IMPACT's Rebellion pay-per-view next weekend, taking on Eddie Edwards.

Fightful's report goes on state that other individuals have likely been signed recently for the new ROH endeavor, though outside of Gresham, Kaun, and Toa Liona, other names have yet to be confirmed.

Gresham became undisputed ROH champion at Supercard of Honor on April 1, defeating Bandido. Gresham was originally supposed to challenge Bandido at December's Final Battle for the title, but Bandido had to pull out, due to COVID-19. Gresham instead defeated Jay Lethal to win the vacant title (represented by the classic ROH title belt), then defeated the "unbeaten" Bandido two weeks ago to win the physical belt Bandido still possessed.
