Report: AEW Women's Division Clears The Air In Backstage Meeting
AEW’s women’s division reportedly had a locker room meeting to air grievances with Thunder Rosa
Feb 16, 2023
The All Elite Wrestling women's division had talks to clear the air at the February 8 edition of Dynamite, according to Fightful Select.
Thunder Rosa was back on the road with AEW for the first time in several months on February 8 as the former AEW Women's World Champion is now a part of the Spanish commentary team. Rosa had been off TV since August 2022 due to a back injury and Rosa's time off coincided with there being plenty of tension between her and the women's locker room.
The meeting on February 8 was held to try and ease the tension within the women's division and Rosa is said to have done a lot of "making amends" for several issues at the meeting. A member of AEW management noted the meeting was believed to be productive and hoped it was a "clean slate."
Reports back in September 2022 noted Rosa had heat with the locker room, primarily with Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter, after Rosa broke Hayter's nose in a Battle of the Belts match. Others, meanwhile, thought Rosa had developed an ego and could be difficult to work with. La Mera Mera then garnered further heat after she opted to take time off before her scheduled All Out match with Toni Storm as many considered her back injury to be one they would have worked through to drop the title.
Fightful added that members of the women's roster believed Rosa tried to make others look like bullies during her previous run, while there were also complaints about "sandbagging and working stiff." Those issues were said to have long been rectified, though.
AEW initially crowned an interim champion during Rosa's absence until she was stripped of the women's title after Full Gear. Rosa remains out of action and Fightful Select noted she hasn't yet been cleared to make an in-ring return.
