Andrade El Idolo's signing with All Elite Wrestling could have ramifications for the TripleMania XXIX main event.

Ahead of him signing with AEW, AAA announced Andrade would challenge Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship on August 14. El Idolo then joined AEW in early June and he is currently feuding with Death Triangle with Chavo Guerrero as his manager.

With the match now only one day away, Dave Meltzer has reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Andrade was told at one point he would be defeating Omega for the title on Saturday. Many also believe Omega will drop the title, but The Best Bout Machine still being AEW World Champion may have scuppered AAA's once planned title change.

Tony Khan has previously banned the promotion's world champion from losing in another company and Meltzer noted "it's hard to believe" the AEW president would let Omega lose the AAA Title cleanly. AAA could book a DQ finish, though, which would lead to a title change.

Omega has reigned as AAA Mega Champion for almost two years, having won the title back in October 2019. The Belt Collector hasn't defended the championship since December 2020, though.
