A new report has provided some backstage details on Karl Anderson's status with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

It was recently announced that Anderson and his Good Brothers tag team partner Luke Gallows would be returning to the company for its show on December 14. Anderson will defend his NEVER Openweight Title on the show against Hikuleo.

Anderson was scheduled to defend the title against Hikuleo at Battle Autumn on November 5, but worked WWE Crown Jewel instead. New Japan threatened to strip KA of the title, but Hikuleo said that he wanted to win the title from Anderson himself.

Fightful Select noted that Anderson might not be done as far as his work with NJPW is concerned, with those the site spoke to saying that the plan is for the Machine Gun to work more dates beyond his title defence.

New Japan were aware that Gallows and Anderson would be returning to WWE in August and a plan was put in place to have Anderson work dates around his WWE schedule. Anderson and Gallows returned to WWE on the October 10 episode of Raw.

Fightful went on to say that Anderson has always been pencilled in and planned to work the Tokyo Dome show on January 4. He and Gallows had committed to working it before departing IMPACT Wrestling.

If the Good Brothers work the Tokyo Dome show, it will end up featuring talent from New Japan, WWE, AEW, Stardom and others.
