Report: Backstage News On WWE Office Cuts

WWE reportedly made cuts to their back office

WWE have reportedly been making cuts on the corporate side of the business, with departures across different departments having occurred in recent weeks.

The cuts are believed to have intensified since Vince McMahon returned to the company, with Dave Meltzer reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that such cuts are believed to have been made in order to lower overall costs as the company preps for a potential sale.

Out of all the cuts made, the largest is said to have been that of Matthew Drew. Drew had been working as WWE’s Senior Vice President of International since June 2021, and interestingly was a Nick Khan hire, with Khan having hired Drew over from DAZN, as well as several others. Drew’s duties included managing global media partners, devising international strategy for overseas live events, digital, consumer products and new revenue opportunities.

There’s no word on if cuts are set to continue as WWE ramps up its efforts to get the company into a saleable position, nor if any roster cuts are planned. Reports have suggested that some talent are worried that roster cuts could be on the way following Vince's return to the company.
