Report: Bad Bunny Worked With Former WWE Star To Prepare For Backlash Match

A former WWE star helped out with Backlash

A former WWE star helped the company when it came to Bad Bunny's match at the Backlash pay-per-view on Saturday, May 6.

According to Fightful Select, Brian Kendrick helped Damian Priest train Bad Bunny for his San Juan Street Fight against the Judgment Day member at Backlash. There were initially rumours that Kendrick produced the match with Jamie Noble but Fightful stated that was not the case.

Bad Bunny appeared to pay homage to Kendrick, hitting a Sliced Bread 2 on Priest during the San Juan Street Fight. Bad Bunny would ultimately win the Street Fight and it was praised as the match of the night by many due to memorable moments like a Falcon Arrow through a table, and the WWE returns of Carlito and Savio Vega. WWE higher-ups were reportedly ecstatic with the match, stating it "paid for itself in publicity."

Prior to Backlash, Kendrick helped produce Ronda Rousey vs. Shotzi at Survivor Series in November 2022, being brought in for the show at the request of Rousey.

The 43-year-old has had multiple runs in WWE since 2002 and he was a producer/coach in NXT until the beginning of 2022, when he was granted his release. Kendrick was then set to debut in AEW against Jon Moxley but the match was scrapped after offensive remarks made by Kendrick in 2011 and 2013 resurfaced.
