Report: Change Coming To WWE Raw Commentary Team

A replacement is apparently forthcoming

No formal announcement has been made by WWE as of yet, but a report from Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc has it that WWE will be introducing a new broadcaster to the team on this Monday's episode of Raw.

According to Giri's report, Tom Phillips is being replaced as lead play-by-play announcer by veteran sports anchor Adnan Virk.

The 42-year-old Virk has been involved in sports broadcasting for close to two decades, and presently works for both MLB Network and DAZN.

From 2010 through 2019, Virk worked for ESPN as host for shows like SportsCenter, Outside the Lines, and he also helmed studio coverage for college football. His exit from ESPN in 2019 stemmed from him allegedly leaking information about ESPN to the media.

There is no word on what Phillips' next move will be in WWE, as far as broadcasting is concerned. He served as play-by-play announcer for Raw since January 2020, and was formerly the lead announcer on SmackDown, NXT, and NXT UK at different times.

Samoa Joe and Bryon Saxton will remain on Raw, teaming with Virk.
