Report: Cody Rhodes Tops WWE Merch Sales Over WrestleMania 39 Weekend

Cody Rhodes sold a ton of merchandise over WWE WrestleMania 39 weekend

Cody Rhodes continues to prove himself as a top star within WWE.

The American Nightmare has been presented at the top of the card since he returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38, with his push leading to a Royal Rumble win before Cody challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 39 on Sunday, April 2.

It was expected heading into the match that Rhodes would be winning the belts but he ended the night with his shoulders on the mat after Solo Sikoa interfered to stop Rhodes from hitting another Cross Rhodes before Roman Reigns took advantage with a Spear to score the successful title defence.

Rhodes was extremely hot heading into WrestleMania and Cody's popularity ultimately made WWE plenty of money in the run-up to the biggest show of the year, with Fightful Select reporting the former Intercontinental Champion was the biggest merchandise seller out of all WWE Superstars, beating out Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Brock Lesnar and others.

Rhodes didn't sell the most merchandise overall as the most purchased items were just generic WWE/WrestleMania-themed objects or t-shirts.

If WWE can maintain Cody's popularity following his loss at WrestleMania is ultimately the company's next challenge, with many doubting Rhodes will be as hot for his eventual rematch with Roman Reigns as he was at the Show of Shows. Rhodes will feud with Brock Lesnar before any potential rematch, however.
