Back at Backlash 2020, Edge and Randy Orton faced off in The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever and battled back and forth for 44 minutes in a widely praised bout. Orton ultimately picked up the win, but the two Superstars have been unable to continue their feud as The Rated R-Superstar tore his triceps after doing a Springboard into the second RKO. He is expected to be on the shelf for up to eight months.

Unless Edge has a setback, he will be able to compete at WrestleMania 37 and Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the current plan is for the 11-time world champion to continue his rivalry with The Viper and face him in an I Quit match at The Showcase Of The Immortals. The match was originally going to take place at SummerSlam 2020 but this was impossible after Edge's injury.

Despite his torn triceps, The Ultimate Opportunist reportedly remains heavily involved in WWE as Meltzer also revealed he is currently working on the writing team on Monday Night Raw and holds "significant creative influence."
