Report: Former WWE Champion In Detroit For SummerSlam Weekend

An injured former world champion is in town for SummerSlam

Rumours have been running wild when it comes to SummerSlam weekend and possible surprises, especially with the last few years seeing surprise comebacks in the form of top stars like Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Becky Lynch, and Bayley.

Someone that has supposedly been spotted in Detroit ahead of SummerSlam weekend is multi-time world champion Randy Orton, who hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since mid-2022. PWInsider have reported on Orton’s attendance in Detroit, though it has been noted that the reasoning for him being there is unclear, with a return to action being unlikely.

Reports have gone back and forth over the status of Orton, with some weeks it seeming like he is only a short time away from making a return, whereas others it looks more like he will never return again. He has been absent ever since having to undergo fusion back surgery last year, his last match coming in the “Winner Take All” unification match of the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Titles, teaming up with Matt Riddle in a losing effort to The Usos.
