How WWE NXT talents reacted to releases within the developmental system has been revealed.

WWE carried out post-WrestleMania 40 cuts to the NXT roster on Friday, May 3. The most high-profile release was Olympic gold medallist Gable Steveson, with reports indicating that Steveson was let go due to being on a high salary and simply "not cutting it" within the company. Other names let go included Valentina Feroz, Trey Bearhill, Ezekiel Balogun, Julian Baldi, Emma Diaz, Keyshawn Leflore, Darrell Mason, Vlad Pavlenko, and Kiyah Saint.

Fightful Select's Corey Brennan has reported the May 3 releases were discussed backstage at Tuesday night's edition of NXT and frustration over some of the cuts was prevalent at the show.

Another cut coming to WWE NXT is Drew Gulak as the company has opted not to renew the former Cruiserweight Champion's contract. Allegations that Gulak was a bully within NXT and intentionally tried to worsen other wrestlers' injuries have since emerged.

Boa has also announced that he will be finished with WWE at the beginning of June when his contract expires, as will Scrypts (AKA Reggie).
