Report: Further Update On Jay White's NJPW Future

Amidst reported interest from WWE

Following Jay White's post-Wrestle Kingdom 15 promo in which he said he was done with New Japan Pro-Wrestling, reports noted  WWE was "making a strong play" to sign the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and the odds of him staying in NJPW were 50/50. Switchblade's contract with the promotion was rumoured to be up at the end of January.

More questions around White's situation arose over the weekend, though. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that White told All Elite Wrestling officials back in 2018 that he had just re-signed with New Japan on a seven-year deal. Meltzer noted he wasn't sure if White had actually signed a new contract, though.

Switchblade has also been featured on New Japan posters for their upcoming shows at Korakuen Hall, which would suggest they believe he is sticking around for at least a little while longer. He was used alongside the likes of Kota Ibushi, Tetsuya Naito, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Will Ospreay. New Japan plans to hold 15 shows at the venue between January 17 and February 28.
