Report: IMPACT Wrestling Held Talks About New Video Game In 2020

A new IMPACT video game was discussed

An IMPACT Wrestling console video game hasn't been released since 2008 but this hasn't stopped the promotion from trying to get a new IMPACT title developed.

Fightful Select have reported that Virtual Basement - the developers of The Wrestling Code - held meetings with IMPACT in 2020 and there were pitches for the studio to work on an IMPACT Wrestling console game, which is something the promotion's parent company Anthem Entertainment were keen on.

Development for The Wrestling Code would have needed to be halted, though, and Virtual Basement would have funded the game.

Ultimately, the pitches didn't go anywhere and Anthem had nixed IMPACT's talent from appearing in The Wrestling Code. The Virtual Basement title is still awaiting a release date.

IMPACT, meanwhile, aren't planning to release a new video game.

IMPACT's previous video game, TNA IMPACT!, was released back in 2008 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii to mixed reviews. The title sold 1.5 million units but financial difficulties at developer and publisher Midway Games prevented a sequel from being developed and Midway later went out of business.
