Report: Jim Ross Not Returning To AEW TV Anytime Soon

Jim Ross not expected back on AEW TV soon

The debut edition of All Elite Wrestling Collision in Chicago on June 17 saw Jim Ross join the commentary team of Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness, but the legendary announcer was the worse for wear, his voice noticeably hoarse during the broadcast.

An update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that Ross won’t be returning to call the action on AEW TV ‘anytime soon’, with the WWE Hall of Famer allegedly unsure when he will return to the announce desk with his voice yet to fully return.

The 71-year-old veteran has been calling professional wrestling action since the late 70s, working for the NWA (Bill Watts’ Mid South Wrestling and Jim Crockett Promotions), WCW, WWE, NJPW, and AEW amongst others.

Ross has been part of AEW since 2019, serving as part of the original Dynamite broadcast team alongside Excalibur, and former WCW colleague Tony Schiavone. Ross would later transition from Dynamite to Rampage, but would still call the occasional match for Dynamite, as well as select pay-per-view bouts for AEW.
