Report: Jonathan Gresham Asks For Release From AEW/ROH

Gresham lost the ROH title last night

Now-former ROH World champion Jonathan Gresham has reportedly asked for his release from AEW/ROH, according to a new report from Fightful Select.

Gresham lost the title last night at Death Before Dishonor to Claudio Castagnoli, and reportedly requested his release ahead of that match.

The report states that there was an apparent lack of communication between Gresham and the company, and that Gresham felt disrespected by that. Another issue was the allotted time for Gresham and Castagnoli's match, which only ended up going about 11 and a half minutes.

Fightful's report adds that Gresham finally got a meeting with Tony Khan before the show, where, "... he was said to have communicated the frustration that led to him 'cussing out' Khan."

The story goes on to say, "... we're told from Gresham's side of things that as of this moment, Gresham is 'done with wrestling for the foreseeable future after this month.'"

It is not known if Gresham's release request was granted.

Gresham signed with AEW on April 15, about six weeks after it was announced that Tony Khan was buying Ring of Honor. Gresham won the ROH World title last December at Final Battle.
