Report: Major Update On John Cena's WWE WrestleMania 39 Status

Will John Cena make WWE WrestleMania 39?

A major update on John Cena's status for WWE WrestleMania 39 has emerged.

It was noted this week that Cena was "probable" for The Showcase of the Immortals but him being in action was not 100 percent due to his movie schedule. Cena is set to be in Australia through February and March to film 'Ricky Stanicky', an R-rated comedy with Zac Efron. Cena will star in the title role.

Dave Meltzer has since reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the belief within WWE is Cena will be in action at WrestleMania and he will be able to ensure his movie schedule allows him to wrestle at The Show of Shows.

WrestleMania 39 will emanate from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on April 1 and April 2, 2023. Cena was scheduled to face Austin Theory at the event while Vince McMahon was CEO and Chairman. The 77-year-old retired in July and those plans have seemingly been scrapped.

Cena will return to WWE for the December 30 episode of SmackDown where he is scheduled to team with Kevin Owens against Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.
