Report: More On WWE Day 1 Cancellation

WWE recently cancelled their Day 1 2023 PPV

Amidst a reported shaking up of their pay per view calendar heading into 2023, WWE recently made the decision to cancel their upcoming Day 1 event in January.

After announcing the second annual iteration of the show, WWE soon changed tact, and in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer has shed some more light on WWE’s decision to cancel the show.

Originally set for Atlanta, Georgia’s State Farm Arena on January 1 2023, WWE reportedly considered moving the show to December 27 - cancelling a planned house show in Detroit as a result. However, WWE then decided to cancel Day 1 altogether and have no pay per view events between Survivor Series on November 26 2022 and the Royal Rumble on January 28 2023.

Tickets for Day 1 never officially went on sale, but some travel packages had been purchased by fans for the event ahead of the ticket sale day. WWE subsequently have announced they will still run the State Farm Arena on December 27, but now for a house show instead of a PPV.
