UPDATE: Jeff Cobb did indeed make his WWE debut at Backlash, helping Jacob Fatu retain the United States Championship in the opening contest.
ORIGINAL STORY:
A debut is scheduled to take place at WWE Backlash 2025 from the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, May 10.
Fightful Select has reported that Jeff Cobb has been discussed for Backlash and as of Friday night, he was planned for the pay-per-view/premium live event.
How Jeff Cobb's debut will play out is unknown but Fightful noted the former NJPW star was at one point discussed to be involved with a Bloodline-related story. Bloodline member Jacob Fatu is scheduled to defend the United States Championship in a four-way at Backlash against Drew McIntyre, LA Knight, and Damian Priest.
Jeff Cobb had been a part of New Japan Pro-Wrestling for the past several years but exited the promotion in late April after asking for his release. According to reports, Cobb will be a part of the SmackDown brand. There were initially pitches for Cobb on the main roster and NXT but the decision was made to call him up to the main roster due to his age.
