Report: Next Major WWE NXT Show Planned For August

Major WWE NXT show in the works

While August will be a quieter month for major WWE events, with no main roster pay-per-view/premium live event scheduled to take place during the month, that won't be the case for NXT.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE are tentatively planning to hold the next major NXT event in late August. No date has been finalised as of yet but the company are looking at August 20 and August 27.

WWE have continued to hold major NXT shows since the 2.0 revamp in September of 2021, although the company have avoided billing them as TakeOvers, seemingly to distance themselves from the old black and gold brand.

Since the revamp, WWE have held WarGames in December 2021, Stand & Deliver in April 2022, and In Your House in June 2022.

Late August will also mark the one-year anniversary of the last TakeOver event, NXT TakeOver 36, which took place on August 22, 2021. That show featured multiple major matches, including Adam Cole vs. Kyle O'Reilly in a Two-out-of-Three-Falls Match, and Karrion Kross vs. Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship.
