Pete Dunne returned to WWE NXT last week at Halloween Havoc. Many were shocked to see The Bruiserweight at the Capitol Wrestling Center and were even more stunned when he attacked Kyle O'Reilly from behind and joined Pat McAfee's new faction.
Pat McAfee explained how his group came into existence in storyline ahead of Halloween Havoc. The former NFL punter revealed he initially hired Ridge Holland to attack Adam Cole at NXT TakeOver: 31 to rekindle his feud with The Undisputed ERA. Holland got injured following a confrontation with Oney Lorcan, though, so McAfee pivoted and partnered with The Brit-Am Brawlers instead.
According to talkSPORT's Alex McCarthy, Ridge Holland was originally going to be the fourth member of the faction, but those plans were obviously scrapped following his injury. Pete Dunne was then brought in as a late substitute.
McCarthy tweeted: "As Danny Burch alluded to on talkWRESTLING, Ridge Holland was the original plan for the stable with Pat McAfee before his terrible, terrible injury. Pete Dunne was a late substitute."
