A first-time-ever match could be set to take place at the 2023 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

The first Big Four pay-per-view of 2023 will take place on Saturday, January 28 at San Antonio's Alamodome and WrestlingNews.co have reported that a Pitch Black Match has been pitched and is under serious consideration for the show.

There is no word on what a Pitch Black Match will entail, only that it is believed to be for Bray Wyatt. The two-time Universal Champion returned to WWE at October's Extreme Rules pay-per-view and he has since kicked off a feud with LA Knight. The former Eli Drake was attacked recently on SmackDown but Wyatt claimed he wasn't involved, which will lengthen any storyline.

While Wyatt has been praised for his gimmicks in WWE, his in-ring work has often drawn criticism, particularly during his run as The Fiend. According to WrestlingNews.co, WWE "are being careful to not overexpose Bray in the ring because they want everything he does to feel extra special."

No matches have been officially announced for the Royal Rumble as of yet, although Roman Reigns will reportedly defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the pay-per-view. Find out who against here.
