Report: Plans For Melina's WWE Return Scrapped

A run in NXT was reportedly on the cards...

A report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider back in September noted Melina had come to terms with WWE and was expected to return to TV over the next week.

The former WWE Women's Champion quickly disputed the report, however, and she is yet to return to WWE TV.

According to Jonny Fairplay, WWE planned to have Melina return on NXT as a member of The Robert Stone Brand. The plan was scrapped, though, as the former NWA star had to have surgery.

On the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast, Fairplay said: "I hung out with Robbie E two weeks ago and he has no idea what he's going to do. His plan was to bring in Melina and manage in NXT. She had to have surgery or something. They're not using the guy."

Melina's previous run in WWE lasted from 2005 until the summer of 2011. She initially debuted as the manager of MNM but quickly entered the squared circle and went on to become a three-time Women's Champion and two-time Diva's Champion.
