Report: Potential Location For WWE SummerSlam 2023

WWE has a city in mind

Though nothing has been finalized just yet, one city is the apparent front runner to host next year's WWE SummerSlam, according to a report from Fightful Select.

WWE is apparently leaning toward holding SummerSlam in Detroit. Sources indicate that WWE has been looking into "The Motor City" for SummerSlam over the last few months.

WWE last brought SummerSlam to the area 30 years ago in 1993, holding that event at The Palace of Auburn Hills (then home to the NBA's Detroit Pistons).

With SummerSlam being held in football stadiums over the last couple years, the venue that would make the most sense would be Ford Field, the home of the NFL's Detroit Lions, and host of WrestleMania 23 in 2007. The Detroit Tigers' Comerica Park would also be a candidate, but would be less likely, due to the Tigers' schedule, and the idea of holding an outdoor show in August.

If Detroit is in fact selected for SummerSlam, it would be WWE's first pay-per-view in the city since holding the 2017 Hell in a Cell at Little Caesars Arena.
