Report: Reason Billy Gunn Missed WWE DX Reunion Revealed

Billy Gunn did not appear on WWE Raw for the DX reunion

While D-Generation X reunited for their 25th anniversary on the October 10 episode of Monday Night Raw, Billy Gunn was missing from the reunion that featured Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, and X-Pac.

Road Dogg has since claimed that Gunn was originally booked for the reunion, with The Ass Man even telling him the day before Raw that he was "in." Plans ultimately fell through, though, which was said to have upset everyone involved.

While relations between WWE and AEW are currently frosty, the companies did hold talks about a Billy Gunn appearance on Raw as part of the anniversary, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Tony Khan even agreed to let Gunn work the show but WWE would have to mention that Gunn currently works for All Elite Wrestling, similar to WWE's mention of IMPACT Wrestling for Mickie James' Royal Rumble appearance earlier this year.

WWE initially stalled on Khan's demand before they decided not to agree to it at the last minute. Meltzer also speculated that WWE did not want to risk a loud "Daddy Ass" chant breaking out in the arena. Gunn is currently one of the most popular talents on AEW TV with The Acclaimed through their "Scissor Me Daddy Ass!" catchphrase.

Despite not appearing, Gunn was referenced on Raw. Road Dogg allowed time for the fans in attendance to chant Gunn's name during his trademark New Age Outlaws introduction before Corey Graves mentioned that Daddy Ass was "doing something with office equipment these days."
