Report: Reason WWE Haven't Fired Sasha Banks & Naomi Revealed

Why Naomi and Sasha Banks are still with WWE

While there has been no official announcement from WWE about their futures, it appears Sasha Banks and Naomi will be remaining with the company with reports noting they are not expected to be released.

This comes after Banks and Naomi walked out of WWE Raw earlier this week, leaving the Women's Tag Team Championships on John Laurinaitis' desk. Their issues were said to stem from frustration with the booking of the Women's Tag Team Titles and the division as a whole. The belts were set to be de-emphasised in the coming weeks in favour of Naomi and Banks challenging for the Raw and SmackDown Women's Titles.

In an update on the situation, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that it's possible WWE would have fired the Women's Tag Team Champions "if it was another time and another place" but the company don't want to provide All Elite Wrestling with the opportunity to sign either talent.

"There's a ton of tension. If it was another time and another place it's very possible that they would have been fired but it's this time and this place. I remember when the Charlotte Flair thing happened with Becky Lynch and I was talking to people there and it was kind of like if it was another time and another place, yeah, they would have fired Charlotte Flair for what she did on live TV screwing up the angle on purpose. But it's like do you want to send her to AEW? No. And essentially nothing happened and they don't want to send either of them to AEW. Then you've got the whole Naomi married to Jimmy Uso...It's just a waiting game to see what happens next," Meltzer said.

As it stands, Banks and Naomi are still the reigning Women's Tag Team Champions. They won the gold at WrestleMania 38.
