Report: Rey Mysterio Suffers Suspected Concussion On WWE SmackDown

Rey Mysterio was reportedly concussed on SmackDown

Following what looked to be a nasty bang for his head on the floor outside the ring for Rey Mysterio, the WWE Hall of Famer was forced to concede in his United States Championship number one contenders match against fellow Latino World Order member Santos Escobar on the most recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

Initially, there were conflicting reports on the legitimacy of Rey Mysterio’s injury, with some claiming that it was part of a storyline whereas others were saying it was real. Reports seemed to have lined up with one another now, with WRKD Wrestling backtracking on their previous statement, now reporting that the injury is in fact legit.

PWTorch have provided some more details on the injury though, and it isn’t good news for Mysterio.

“Rey Mysterio suffered a suspected concussion at ringside after a Santos Escobar dive before the second commercial match, PWTorch has learned. The medic tended to Rey during the commercial break and then the match was called off when Rey was showing signs of concussion.”

It remains to be seen how quickly Mysterio will return, and whether the concussion is a severe one.
