Report: Robert Roode Expected To Be Out Of Action Until 2024
Robert Roode won't be back for a while
May 1, 2023
A former WWE NXT Champion won't be back on TV for some time.
Following his omission from the 2023 WWE Draft pool, Fightful Select provided an update on Robert Roode, revealing that WWE expect the former SmackDown Tag Team Champion to be out of action for the rest of 2023. When exactly Roode will return in 2024 is unknown.
Roode has not wrestled for WWE since a loss to Omos at a house show in Amarillo, Texas back in June 2022. Roode underwent neck fusion surgery in December of last year on his C5 and C6 vertebrae, an injury which often keeps talent out of action for at least one year.
During Roode's absence, his Dirty Dawgs tag team partner Dolph Ziggler has re-established himself as a babyface and he remains a regular on WWE TV in the mid-card on the main roster.
Since signing with WWE in 2016, Roode has become a former NXT and United States Champion in singles action. He has also held the Raw and SmackDown Tag Team titles on multiple occasions with Dolph Ziggler and Chad Gable.
