Report: Sasha Banks' Lawyers Were Working On Her WWE Release

Lawyers were working on Sasha Banks' release from WWE

Sasha Banks' lawyers were working on her WWE release last week, according to a report from the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast's Andrew Zarian.

Zarian said: "I cannot confirm she's been released. But, I did hear late last week that her attorneys were working on getting this done."

Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc. was the first person to report that Banks had been released by WWE and so far he is the only person to do so. News of Banks' release emerged on Wednesday night.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted he had not received confirmation from WWE about a release but he stated it does not mean Giri's report is inaccurate. Fightful Select then noted that nobody in WWE had shot down Giri's report, only that they hadn't heard anything about Banks being released within the company.

Banks and her tag team partner Naomi were suspended indefinitely by WWE and stripped of the Women's Tag Team Titles in May, only days after they walked out of a Monday Night Raw taping over a creative dispute about the company's plans for them at Hell In A Cell. Their merchandise was also pulled from WWE's online store.

Banks has been under contract with WWE since 2012. She is a former Raw, SmackDown, and NXT Women's Champion as well as a three-time Women's Tag Team Champion.
