Report: Scrapped Plans For WWE SmackDown Match Revealed

A reportedly scrapped WWE SmackDown match revealed

AJ Styles and Karrion Kross faced ff on the August 11 edition of WWE SmackDown, with Styles going over the former NXT Champion in singles action.

However, a report from PWInsider suggests that there were additional plans for the bout that were ultimately cut, with it believed that the two were originally meant to face off in a stipulation match, with a possible NoDQ match between the two at one point discussed for SmackDown.

The stipulation was ultimately dropped, with no reason suggested as to why. The report goes on to state that the match on August 11 appears to be the blowoff for their feud.

Styles and Kross have fought in televised singles competition on three occasions over the last several months, with Styles coming out on top on all three occasions.

Whilst SmackDown didn’t have a potential NoDQ match, it did feature a shock title change when Rey Mysterio defeated Austin Theory for the United States Championship, whilst the drama of The Bloodline continued, with Jimmy Uso giving his reasons for betraying Jey in SummerSlam’s main event, before Jey ‘quit’ WWE.
