Report: Shane McMahon Vs. Seth Rollins Originally Planned For WWE WrestleMania 38

This would have been unexpected, to say the least...

According to a recent report by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE had originally planned for a surprising showdown at WrestleMania 38 - Seth Rollins vs. Shane McMahon.

Meltzer states:

“Shane McMahon was going to be in the Chamber and set up a feud with Seth Rollins for WrestleMania. I don’t know if that was going to be the [WWE] Championship match, but obviously [...] that was changed, so I don’t know how that relates to Shane McMahon at WrestleMania, but this was supposed to be the step to that.”

Whether or not it was indeed for the WWE Championship, such a matchup would surely have been out of the blue. On the other hand, Shane does have a history of marquee singles matches at 'Mania in recent years, taking on the likes of Undertaker, AJ Styles, The Miz and Braun Strowman.

Shane recently made his return to WWE, appearing at number 28 in the men's Royal Rumble match last weekend. Earlier in the night, Seth Rollins beat Roman Reigns via DQ, and was therefore unable to win the Universal Championship.

H/T to WrestleTalk.
