Report: The Finish Of The Hurt Business Vs. RETRIBUTION On WWE Raw Was Botched
The secret rule is back...
Sep 24, 2020
A long-established secret rule in WWE reappeared again on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. In the main event, Slapjack, Mace and T-Bar of RETRIBUTION faced off against Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander. The match ultimately ended in a disqualification after T-Bar poked The All Mighty in the eye while he had Slapjack trapped in the Hurt Lock. As T-Bar was an illegal participant who attacked a legal man, the referee called for the bell. Illegal men can still enter the ring to make the save, however.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE botched the finish to the main event. As T-Bar was breaking up a submission and, therefore, making the save, he shouldn't have been disqualified and the match should have continued.
Meltzer said: "It is a stupid rule, it does exist, but you're allowed to save. So, on Monday they f****d up their own rule because the RETRIBUTION guy that broke up Lashley was making a save… I was actually told that they screwed up their own rule because it's a break up of a finish, so a submission is also a thing. So if you break up a pin or a submission, you're allowed to do it, but if you just hit the guy for no reason when it's not a pin or a submission then it's a disqualification, which makes absolutely no sense but that's this story."
