Report: Update On AEW Introducing Trios Titles

The long awaited titles could be closer than we think

Seemingly since the launch of AEW there have been persistent rumours that the company will introduce trios titles into the mix, with Tony Khan having teased the titles in the past.

Now, a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests that the titles could be coming sooner rather than later:

“Trios title belts have been made so now it’s just a matter of when they pull the trigger. Tony Khan was asked about making trios titles and gave the indication a few months ago what it was happening, but that they didn’t want to do the tournament until Kenny Omega was back,” said Meltzer

AEW are blessed with several top tier trios teams that could fight over the gold, with the likes of The Blackpool Combat Club, The Elite, The Undisputed Elite, The House of Black, and Death Triangle just several factions that could be in with a shout.

If a tournament is indeed intended to crown the first ever trios champions then they may choose to wait, with the men’s and women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments set to begin imminently. Doubly so if Khan still wants to wait for Omega's return.
