Report: Update On Former WWE Raw Underground Stars
Some of the fight club's stars have disappeared...
Dec 2, 2020
During its two-month run, Raw Underground featured the likes of Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman and Erik in a shoot-style fight club against jobbers and other established WWE Superstars. The show was cancelled back in October, though, as the company was worried about another coronavirus outbreak and wanted to keep NXT and main roster Superstars apart as much as possible.
Two other Superstars who were featured prominently in the fight club were Arturo Ruas and Dabba-Kato. The former Babatunde even went on a winning streak before being knocked out by The Monster Among Men. Neither Ruas nor Dabba-Kato have been on the red brand since Raw Underground was cancelled, though, despite being drafted to Monday nights.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider provided an update on Ruas and Kato and noted they have both been at Raw tapings in recent weeks. The company believes they still need "additional seasoning" before they become fully-fledged Superstars on the red brand, though.
This could be one of the reasons Ruas wrestled Kushida on NXT a couple of weeks ago. The Jiu-Jitsu black belt was defeated in just over four minutes and suffered an arm injury, according to Fightful. There were plans for him to remain on the black and gold brand, but the status of those plans following the injury is unclear.
