Report: Update On Kofi Kingston's Injury

Kofi Kingston is likely to miss WrestleMania 39

WWE star Kofi Kingston is set to be on the sidelines for a little over a month, according to a new report.

Writing in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the time frame he had heard for Kingston to recover was five weeks.

He added that there was some concern within WWE that it could be longer and that the injury would require surgery, but all impressions internally and publicly are that Kofi will not need to go under the knife.

Kingston sustained the injury to his leg when Drew McIntyre performed an over-the-top-rope flip dive onto several people on last week's episode of SmackDown. Meltzer described the incident as a 'fluke deal'.

Kofi was scheduled to compete against McIntyre, Sheamus, LA Knight and Karrion Kross on tonight's episode of SmackDown, with the winner receiving a title shot against Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER at WrestleMania 39. However, he has now been replaced by his New Day teammate Xavier Woods.
