Report: Update On Malakai Black And Miro's Standing In AEW

Rumours indicated Miro and Malakai Black had asked for their AEW releases

Amidst a somewhat turbulent month for AEW, there have been plenty of reports and rumours about backstage tension, unhappiness, and unsettlement amongst AEW talent.

With the shadow of a ‘refreshed’ WWE looming large, rumours emerged this week stating that several AEW talents had asked for releases, and a new report from Fightful Select has sought to shed some light on the situation.

This week, rumours abounded that Malakai Black and Miro in particular were said to be unhappy and had asked to be released from their contracts. Fightful’s report mentioned that several sources in AEW have indicated that Black has been unhappy, but believe issues have been smoothed over somewhat, with the House of Black leader still in the company, with his deal set to run for another four years. Indeed, after the rumours emerged stating Black was gone from AEW, AEW confirmed that he'll be wrestling on Sunday's All Out PPV.

In the case of Miro, the report states that multiple sources have repeatedly shot down news of ‘The Redeemer’ asking for his release, with the former TNT Champion having signed a new deal in late 2021 which is set to run until 2026.
