Report: Update On MJF's AEW Future Following Double Or Nothing

What next for MJF?

Maxwell Jacob Friedman appears to be taking a break from All Elite Wrestling.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, it is expected that MJF will not be on the road with AEW for the next several TV tapings at the bare minimum, but his absence from Dynamite and Rampage could be longer.

MJF was seemingly written off AEW TV during Sunday's Double Or Nothing pay-per-view after he was decimated with 10 Powerbombs from Wardlow in the opening contest. Wardlow then pinned his employer to free himself of his contract and MJF was taken away from the ring on a stretcher.

MJF's upcoming absence from TV comes after The Salt Of The Earth no-showed the Double Or Nothing Fan Fest on Saturday and then booked a flight out of Las Vegas. Friedman ultimately didn't get on the flight but frustration over his AEW contract still lingers.

Tony Khan refused to address MJF's status with AEW during the post-Double Or Nothing media scrum but Friedman did speak to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, telling him he showed up for Sunday's pay-per-view at the last minute and left immediately after his match. Friedman also noted he has a lot to think about and will now be "going dark again."
