Report: Update On Tony D'Angelo Following WWE NXT Injury

Latest on Tony D'Angelo

One of WWE NXT's featured performers suffered an injury on Tuesday's show.

Tony D'Angelo went one-on-one with Wes Lee in a qualifier for the NXT North American Title Ladder Match at Halloween Havoc but the match ended abruptly following a Drop Toehold from Lee to D'Angelo. Big Tony's head hit the turnbuckle and he was unable to get to his feet after the move, having sustained a knee injury. He was helped out of the ring by medical personnel and Lee was declared the winner.

The injury looked to be serious but Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that D'Angelo will be back "sooner than you'd think."

"From what I understand, it's not that bad in the sense that I don't think it's major surgery or anything. I've heard he'll be back sooner than you'd think. But he is hurt," Meltzer said.

When exactly D'Angelo will return is unknown. The NXT talent sustained the injury on September 14, when this week's show was taped.
