Report: Vince McMahon Asking $9 Billion For WWE

McMahon has set his price for potential buyers

Vince McMahon has slapped a hefty price tag on WWE, according to a new report.

Bloomberg reported on Friday that WWE's Executive Chairman is asking for $9 billion from prospective bidders.

It added that McMahon has received 'multiple offers' to take the company private. According to Bloomberg, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, Disney, Amazon, NBC Universal, Fox and Endeavor Group are all possible candidates for the property.

The $9 billion valuation represents a 36% premium on WWE's current market value of around $6.6 billion. WWE's shares dipped 2% following the publication of the report.

LightShed analyst Brandon Ross wrote to Forbes to say that the "ask is still slightly lower than what investors thought", adding his surprise that McMahon "put out an ask" in the first place.

It was recently reported that McMahon's involvement had been considered a hindrance when it comes to WWE sale talks, with his future role in the organisation seen as a sticking point.

WWE CEO Nick Khan has claimed that McMahon would step away from WWE following a sale, if it was in the shareholder's best interests.
