Report: Vince McMahon Decided Against Moving WWE NXT To A Different Night 2 Months Ago

McMahon doesn't back down from a fight...

Over the past week, reports from WrestleVotes and Fightful Select have noted that WWE has discussed moving NXT to a different night over the past two months. The USA Network is also reportedly open to switching nights because they aren't as committed to going head to head with All Elite Wrestling as WWE is. The black and gold brand has often struggled in the ratings against AEW: Dynamite, but viewership has improved by 25 percent over the past three weeks when the show has been unopposed.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon "shut down" talks two months ago about NXT possibly moving nights. Meltzer provided more details in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and revealed McMahon held a meeting in which he and other executives weighed up the pros and cons. WWE concluded ratings would go up if they moved, but they also feared AEW would draw similar numbers to Raw and SmackDown in younger demographics if Dynamite was broadcast unopposed.

Following the meeting, McMahon decided to keep NXT on Wednesday nights because he didn't want to give the impression that the black and gold brand had backed down in The Wednesday Night Wars.
