Report: Vince McMahon Makes 'Significant' Changes While Backstage At WWE Raw
Vince McMahon was backstage making changes at WWE Raw
Vince McMahon was backstage at a WWE TV taping for the first time since the Raw after WrestleMania 39 during the June 5 edition of Monday Night Raw from Hartford, Connecticut.
Fightful Select reported there were rumblings amongst talent in the afternoon ahead of Raw that McMahon would be there and the WWE Executive Chairman ended up arriving at the venue at some point after 6 pm ET.
McMahon ended up changing a 'significant part of the show', according to Fightful, and PWInsider added that the 77-year-old changed the match order and where segments were placed on Raw to fit his vision. The show being reconfigured was not considered 'overtly stressful or over the top', although some backstage segments ended up being taped later than usual due to McMahon's changes.
There wasn't much resentment or anger from talents at McMahon's appearance, with one talent noting after Raw that "the band-aid has already been ripped off" and there is an understanding that McMahon is "back on the throne."
Unlike the Raw after WrestleMania 39, the June 5 edition of Raw was positively received, with praise being heaped on the World Heavyweight Title match between Seth Rollins and Damian Priest in particular.
McMahon has been at the top of creative since WWE announced the sale of the company to Endeavor on April 3. Beyond this week's Raw and the Raw after WrestleMania 39, the Executive Chairman has made changes to WWE TV remotely. A recent change he made occurred on last week's show which saw AJ Styles heavily featured on Raw despite being a SmackDown wrestler.
McMahon was briefly out as the head of creative between July 2022 and April 2023 due to the sexual misconduct and hush money scandal that forced him to retire last year.
