Report: Vince McMahon Turned Down Forbidden Door Entry In 2022 Men's Royal Rumble

Vince McMahon rejected an outside name for the WWE Royal Rumble

While WWE would open the Forbidden Door at the 2022 Royal Rumble, with Mickie James appearing in the women's rumble at the January pay-per-view, the company reportedly looked to bring in an outside name for the men's match but Vince McMahon turned down the wrestlers on offer.

WrestleVotes told GiveMeSport that no one from All Elite Wrestling would have worked the 2022 men's Royal Rumble but a list was presented to McMahon, with the then-WWE CEO and Chairman rejecting every name available.

"It was never on the table for it to be anybody from AEW. That I know for sure. They agreed to have Mickie James wearing the IMPACT title, so I know the idea was 'If we do it in the women's, shouldn't we do it in the men's?' From what I understand, a list of four or five guys was presented, and Vince didn't like any of them, so that's where it ended. Vince doesn't know every single wrestler outside of WWE, so when this list was presented, there was nothing that jumped out at him. I'm not even quite sure he recognised the four or five or six guys that they said, 'We can probably do this,'" WrestleVotes said.

The feeling was the names on offer were members of the IMPACT roster but who the talents would have been is unknown.

Mickie James entered the 2022 Women's Royal Rumble at #20 and lasted 11 minutes before being dumped over the top rope by Lita. The match was eventually won by the returning Ronda Rousey.
