With AEW President Tony Khan buying Ring of Honor, questions have emerged about how Tony Khan plans on running the cult indie promotion.

Whilst some reports have suggested ROH will become a quasi-developmental territory for AEW, Dave Meltzer has questioned whether this is a viable option, before noting that AEW don’t run house shows so the idea of ROH house shows is unlikely:

“Right now, they don’t do house shows with AEW because they’re not cost-effective for AEW in their minds,” said Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

AEW have ran several non-televised events as part of the Jericho Cruise series, but in the three years since AEW started they have only ran one house show; The House Always Wins in April 2021.

With the rapid advancements in streaming technology, plus the effects of the pandemic, house shows seem almost redundant to some, with many surprised when WWE resumed touring after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, house shows are still some of the funnest wrestling events you can attend.
