Report: Why Bad Bunny's WWE In-Ring Debut Is A Singles Match Revealed

Bad Bunny looked set to debut in a tag team match

Following his first WWE appearance at the Royal Rumble, multiple reports noted Bad Bunny would be making his in-ring debut at WrestleMania 37 in a tag team match with Damian Priest against The Miz and John Morrison.

However, to many people's surprise, Bad Bunny's match at 'Mania was booked as a singles contest against The Miz on Monday Night Raw. The A-Lister issued the challenge during Miz TV and Bad Bunny accepted after decking the former WWE Champion with a steel chair.

According to PWInsider's Mike Johnson, WWE announced the match as a singles bout because John Morrison and Damian Priest are both dealing with minor injuries. The company is hoping both Superstars will be back in time for The Showcase Of The Immortals, at which point they will be added to the match, but WWE didn't want to risk booking a tag match just in case they aren't medically cleared.

Johnson said: "Morrison and Damian Priest are dealing with some minor injuries right now, and rather than announce the tag match, then change it, they announced it as a singles match, and if everybody's good to go, it will evolve into the tag match, it might even evolve into the tag match that night. They are being very conservative just in case one or both are not 100 percent cleared to perform, I was told it's just some minor injury issues. They are being very careful."
