CMLL terminated their working relationship with Ring Of Honor earlier this week. The two promotions had been working together since 2016 and they co-promoted the Global Wars Espectacular tour in 2019. ROH's Matt Taven was also previously a star in CMLL and he main evented CMLL's 85th Anniversary Show.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that CMLL ended the relationship with ROH because of the new Federacion Wrestling promotion in Mexico. The new company is backed by ROH World Champion RUSH and other ROH talent like Dragon Lee, Matt Taven, Bestia Del Ring, Rey Horus and Bandido are scheduled to work the promotion's first show in June.

Meltzer noted that CMLL called ROH and told them to stop ROH talent from working the Federacion Wrestling show. Meltzer believes ROH might have asked the wrestlers not to do the show, but the company couldn't do anything to stop them because the ROH exclusive deals only cover the United States and Canada, not Mexico. Matt Taven was said to be the wrestler CMLL most wanted to stop from appearing at the June event.

This comes at a time when Federacion Wrestling is extending offers to CMLL's top stars and the historic promotion is struggling financially because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
