Report: Why John Cena Missed WWE WrestleMania 38 Revealed

Reason John Cena wasn't at WWE WrestleMania

John Cena missed his second consecutive WrestleMania over the weekend as the 16-time world champion was absent from WrestleMania 38 at Arlington's AT&T Stadium.

Cena wasn't expected to be at The Showcase Of The Immortals, with previous reports having noted Cena's name was mentioned during planning for 'Mania but only in the same way as 'everyone was discussed.'

The reason for Cena's absence from WrestleMania, though, was down to his acting commitments. Fightful Select noted Cena has been filming 'Coyote vs. Acme' in New Mexico, which is a Wile E. Coyote movie due for release next year. The 44-year-old's agent was scheduled to fly into Arlington for The Show Of Shows, though.

While he couldn't be in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for WrestleMania, Cena did congratulate WWE on the show, tweeting on Monday: "Congrats to everyone who made this year's #WrestleMania an absolutely STUPENDOUS 2-night affair. Celebrate the weekend, the fans & the closing one of chapter to start the next. Enjoy the shortest off season in ALL of sport & entertainment before a VOCAL #WWERaw crowd tonight!"

Cena last performed inside a WWE ring at SummerSlam 2021 when he failed to defeat Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship.
