While WWE were interested in bringing back Enzo Amore earlier this year, the company reportedly didn't have any plans for him to reunite with Big Cass due to fears such a move would limit the former Big Bill's upside.
That is according to Dave Meltzer, who claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio: "There was talk of Enzo in NXT. It was talked to me like it was pretty much a done deal, but they were gonna keep Enzo and Cass apart because of the idea that if they put them together, Cass' upside is very limited in that tag team based on how WWE does tag teams. But now, with Cass in the spot that he's in, being with Enzo may not be the worst thing in a tag team. So I suppose they could do that. Seems kind of weird. What does Cass need Enzo for when he’s beating these guys up all by himself anyway?"
It was reported in May that WWE were interested in signing Enzo Amore and Big Cass and utilising them as a tag team, but that seemingly was not the case, with plans instead in place for Amore to be featured on NXT.
Big Cass ultimately made his WWE return on the post-SummerSlam edition of Monday Night Raw on August 3, having given his notice to All Elite Wrestling weeks earlier. Big Cass has so far been featured in feuds with Je'Von Evans and now Dragon Lee.
Why exactly Enzo Amore did not return to WWE is unknown, especially when it looked to be all but a done deal in the summer, is unknown.
Enzo Amore and Big Cass previously teamed together on NXT and the WWE main roster from 2013 until the summer of 2017. They briefly feuded following a split brought about by a Big Cass heel turn, and both competitors were released in 2018.
Enzo and Cass most recently teamed together on the Jericho cruise in February 2025 along with Chris Jericho and Bryan Keith against Grizzled Young Veterans and MxM Collection.
