Report: WWE 'Blocking' AEW From Running Venues

WWE making life difficult for AEW booking venues

Although WWE claim that there isn’t a wrestling ‘war’, the company are reportedly trying to make life difficult for AEW, particularly when it comes to the arenas that both promotions run shows in. Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter gave some insight on the issue, explaining that WWE is tying down certain venues into deals which makes it harder or more awkward for AEW to run there too.

“There is an interesting note that in arenas that do rent to both AEW and WWE, WWE has put clauses in its deals that AEW can’t run a certain number of weeks before or after the WWE show, and also that AEW and the arena can’t announce the show or sell tickets until after the WWE show has taken place.”

Whether this will effect AEW running in particular venues in the future is unclear at the moment, but for now WWE are seemingly stamping their ground as the number one professional wrestling company on the North American continent.
