Report: WWE Changed Plans For Extreme Rules Main Event
WWE Extreme Rules main event plans were changed
Oct 10, 2022
With WWE Extreme Rules 2022 done and dusted, all talk is on the ending angle that saw Bray Wyatt finally return to WWE after weeks of speculation.
However, this was of course a wrestling show, and it seems heading into the event on October 8 not everything was set in stone, with a report from Fightful Select suggesting that the main event of the night had been played with by WWE.
According to the report, both the Fight Pit Match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle and the WWE Raw Women's Championship Ladder Match between Bianca Belair and Bayley were earmarked for the main event spot, with WWE eventually putting the Fight Pit on last before Wyatt’s return closed the show.
The Fight Pit Match was the first time the gimmick had been used on WWE’s main roster, having been used only in NXT before Extreme Rules. The finish of the match saw Matt Riddle come out with his hand raised by special referee Daniel Cormier after submitting Seth Rollins, with Riddle earlier taking a huge bump off the Fight Pit’s platform with a diving senton.
