Report: WWE Changes Negotiation Style For Wrestlers With Expiring Contracts

WWE reportedly changing how they negotiate with expiring deals

WWE looks to be changing up how they handle expiring deals in the company. Amidst a lot of contract talk in recent months, with the likes of Drew McIntyre being a major name with less than a year left on his current WWE deal, it looks as though leaving contract negotiations until later in the game is all a part of the plan.

A report by Fightful Select has revealed that WWE has been altering how they approach wrestlers with contracts running down.

“Fightful learned that a change in talent relations and a major turnover internally, in addition to some new faces at the top of the company had changed the way contracts were negotiated in the last year or so of Vince McMahon's regime before he left. Fightful was told that the newer approach was to come closer to their expiration date before negotiations begin in many cases, a practice that was already in effect as of the Summer 2021. That wasn't exclusively the case, but was a big adjustment from WWE looking to lock down talent way ahead of their deals expiring.”

Some fans will remember some talents signing very big long-term deals over the last few years to ensure that they remain in the promotion, though this method seems to be changing as time goes on.
