Zelina Vega made a surprise return to WWE on last Friday's episode of SmackDown, instantly being added to the Women's Money In The Bank Ladder Match on Sunday 18 July.

The former manager for Andrade in WWE was released by the promotion last year amid ongoing tensions regarding her use of third-party platforms such as Twitch, but her return confirms rumours that a return was in the works after being spotted at the WWE Performance Center.

PWInsider is reporting that, upon her release, there were some segments within WWE that felt Vega should have been retained and not actually allowed out of her contract, and those individuals regularly pushed for conversations between the two sides to continue.

The report goes on to say that WWE and Vega would eventually get back to the table and, after a back-and-forth which involved both sides coming to an understanding of the other's perspective, WWE executive would apologise to Vega for the nature of her departure from the company and make an offer to return.

Vega would make the decision to take the offer and, while it is uncertain when she officially re-signed with the promotion, it is known that both parties elected to keep the agreement quiet while they worked out when she should return.
